Maurizio Pollini (Milano, 1942 – Milano, 2024) è stato un pianista e direttore d’orchestra italiano.
Considerato un virtuoso con una tecnica impeccabile, era noto per la sua profonda musicalità e la sua dedizione alla ricerca della perfezione in ogni brano che eseguiva.
Ha debuttato al Teatro alla Scala di Milano a 16 anni e vi ha tenuto oltre 150 concerti nel corso della sua carriera.
Nel 1960, a 18 anni, vinse il Concorso Chopin a Varsavia, ottenendo l’elogio di Arthur Rubinstein che esclamò: “Questo giovane suona tecnicamente già meglio di tutti noi”.
Il suo repertorio spaziava da Bach a Schoenberg, con una particolare attenzione per Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, Liszt e Brahms.
Ha suonato nelle più importanti sale da concerto del mondo, collaborando con le più prestigiose orchestre e direttori.
