Ritratti sempre eleganti, magnetici, raffinati.

Paolo Roversi (Ravenna, 1947) is an Italian photographer. One of the most acclaimed photographers, he is internationally renowned as an interpreter of fashion who is capable of creating emotionally charged atmospheres.
In the early 1970s, following the advice of then Elle creative director Peter Knapp, he moved to Paris to gain experience and have more opportunities for work. At the time, Roversi was a photojournalist for the Associated Press and had recently opened a portrait studio in his hometown, but he decided to follow Knapp’s advice, which would prove to be invaluable.
He moved to the French capital, where he got to know fashion and, above all, fashion photography, becoming particularly passionate about the work of Guy Bourdin, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, and Helmut Newton. Thanks to the great masters of portraiture, he grasped that special freedom, that enormous creativity that fashion photography allows to be staged, and he fell in love with it.
Roversi began working as an assistant, but in a short time commissioned work for fashion magazines intensified, and it was in 1980 that he was consecrated: Christian Dior hired him to create the advertising campaign.
Then came collaborations with Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, Romeo Gigli, and then Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Krizia, Cerruti, Yves Saint Laurent, Alberta Ferretti, Hermès, Givenchy, and Guerlain.
He began photographing models for the most important glossy magazines in the world for fashion editorials, and his iconic nudes took shape.
It is often said that Paolo Roversi’s photographs are timeless, impossible to place in a specific historical moment. They could have been taken yesterday or today, they are suspended in time thanks to a style that completely disregards the context, and is born exclusively in the relationship between him and the subject, who must feel free in front of the camera.
Among his most famous works are the portraits of Natalia Vodianova, taken at the height of her rise as a top model in the 1990s. Those of Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Of Letizia Casta, Milla Jovovich, Stella Tennant, Ines de la Fressange. Elegant, magnetic, refined portraits always.
