I Pink Floyd sono un gruppo rock inglese nato a Londra nella metà degli anni Sessanta, i pionieri della musica psichedelica prima e del rock progressivo poi.
La band è famosa per le sperimentazioni sonore, i concerti- spettacolo e gli album-concept che affrontano temi come alienazione, politica, follia e memoria. La formazione classica comprende Roger Waters (voce, basso), David Gilmour (chitarra, voce), Richard Wright (tastiere) e Nick Mason (batteria); Syd Barrett fu il fondatore e leader creativo nei primi anni ma lasciò il gruppo per problemi personali nel 1968. Il gruppo ha attraversato fasi nettamente diverse: l’era Barrett (psichedelia e prime sperimentazioni), l’epoca del maggior successo commerciale e artistico guidata prima da Waters (anni ’70) e, dopo l’addio di Waters nei primi anni ’80, la prosecuzione sotto la direzione di Gilmour che ha prodotto ulteriori lavori e tournée.
