Graziana Pentich (Trieste, 1920 – Roma, 2013) è stata una pittrice, scrittrice e poetessa italiana.
Laureata in Scienze Politiche, nel 1946 si trasferisce a Milano, dove inizia a collaborare con Elio Vittorini e incontra il poeta Alfonso Gatto, con cui avrà un legame duraturo fino al 1970. Durante la loro relazione, pubblica poesie e articoli su diverse riviste. Dopo brevi soggiorni a Venezia e Torino, nel 1949 nasce il loro primo figlio, Leone. La coppia si sposta frequentemente per motivi legati alla carriera di Gatto.
Tra il 1950 e il 1957, Pentich inizia la sua prima fase pittorica, caratterizzata da figure geometriche. Nel 1955 tiene la sua prima mostra personale a Venezia. Nel corso degli anni ’60, pubblica opere significative come “Una patria da trovare” e illustra libri per l’infanzia. La sua carriera artistica evolve verso il tema delle finestre dopo la dissoluzione del legame con Gatto, avvenuta dopo la sua morte nel 1976 e la tragica scomparsa del figlio Leone. Negli anni ’90, Graziana Pentich pubblica “I colori di una storia” in memoria di Alfonso e Leone e continua a scrivere fino alla sua morte avvenuta il 25 gennaio 2013 a Roma. Il suo archivio è conservato presso l’Università di Pavia.

Graziana Pentich (Trieste, 1920 – Rome, 2013) was an Italian painter, writer, and poet.
After graduation, she moved to Milan in 1946, where she began collaborating with Elio Vittorini and met the poet Alfonso Gatto, with whom she would have a lasting relationship until 1970. During their relationship, she published poems and articles in various magazines. After brief stays in Venice and Turin, their first son, Leone, was born in 1949. The couple frequently moved due to Gatto’s career.
Between 1950 and 1957, Pentich began her first phase of painting, characterized by geometric figures. In 1955, she held her first solo exhibition in Venice. Throughout the 1960s, she published significant works such as “Una patria da trovare” and illustrated children’s books. Her artistic career evolved towards the theme of windows after her relationship with Gatto ended following his death in 1976 and the tragic loss of their son Leone. In the 1990s, Graziana Pentich published “I colori di una storia” in memory of Alfonso and Leone and continued to write until her death on January 25, 2013, in Rome. Her archive is preserved at the University of Pavia.
