I was born under the sign of Pisces, with Sagittarius rising—which, after all, has a fish’s tail, too. They say Pisceans are sensitive, spiritual, often artistic, forever drifting through the realms of dreams and imagination. Changeable, chameleonic, compassionate, calm, shy, resilient. They say the two fish are not twins, but swim in opposite directions. I recognize myself in this more than I’d like to admit, especially in the idea of having diametrically opposed tastes. I love the hyper-decorative as much as I love minimalism, tropical forests as much as deserts, sinuous lines as much as geometric forms, horror films as much as love stories, the company of friends as much as solitude, joy as much as melancholy. The transparency of water as much as the mystery of the dark abyss. Being a Fish, I used to insist that I ought to be mute, that I shouldn’t have to rely on words as a means of expression.
