The Clash è stato un acclamato gruppo musicale punk rock britannico, attivo dal 1976 al 1986.
Formato principalmente da Joe Strummer (voce, chitarra ritmica), Mick Jones (chitarra solista, voce), Paul Simonon (basso, voce) e Nick “Topper” Headon (batteria, percussioni), il gruppo è noto per il suo approccio innovativo alla musica punk, mescolando vari generi come reggae, rock e soul.
Il loro album di debutto, The Clash, fu pubblicato l’8 aprile 1977 e rappresentò una pietra miliare del punk rock, con testi che riflettevano le tensioni sociali dell’Inghilterra di quel periodo.
Tra i loro lavori più celebri ci sono London Calling (1979), Sandinista! (1980) e Combat Rock (1982) che hanno ampliato i confini del punk e incorporato temi politici e sociali. La band è conosciuta anche per brani iconici come “Should I Stay or Should I Go” e “Rock the Casbah”.
