centro cultural tina modotti Ercole Barovier
Ercole Barovier (1889-1974) worked outside the box: no standard definition could really fit his professional and artistic profile.
He was not like the many other entrepreneurs born in Murano, and he was not a “designer” in the modern sense of the word, because his glasswork was not the fruit of a process carried out according to precise criteria.
His overflowing creativity simply sparked from observing the masters of glassmaking at work; he experimented empirically on his own exuberant insight and ideas.
Allowing himself the freedom to explore, he invented chemical formulas and dies, perfected new productive processes, and most importantly created unique masterpieces.
